This book examines the doubts (shubhah) raised about the status and rights of women in the Sunnah. It addresses the roots of shubhah and the stages of their development, beginning with questioning the authenticity of the Sunnah and its position in Islamic legislation, followed by examining selected examples of hadiths related to women in terms of the doubts contained therein and the response to them in light of the divine revelation and psychological sciences. It further analyses the doubts related to the mothers of the believers (ummahat al-mu’minin) in the Sunnah and the responses. The study adopted two basic approaches, namely the inductive and analytical approaches in examining the narrations of the hadiths which was raised with shubhah from their sources, the opinions of scholars through their commentaries, and comparing it with discussion from psychology books that emphasize on women’s psychology.
